Workshop Detail Italy (Online) The Role of the Body in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy: A Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Approach FEBRUARY 5, 2024 - FEBRUARY 19, 2024 Dr. Bonnie Goldstein will elucidate the significance of the "somatic narrative" in the treatment of children and adolescents, exploring the ongoing process of body-based, implicit, and nonverbal behavior in psychotherapy. Understanding the therapeutic challenges & transformational moments that arise when working with children and adolescents and addressing complex treatment issues, Dr. Goldstein joins us from Los Angeles, California to share child and adolescent interventions co-developed with Dr. Pat Ogden which adapt Sensorimotor Psychotherapy treatment modalities and interventions to treat child, adolescent, family and group populations, elucidating the wisdom of the body to access the somatic narrative. The importance of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy principles to form and sustain relationships in our younger clients will be elucidated along with the significance of understanding the dynamic interchange between movement patterns, gestures, stances, postures, prosody, and other non-verbal cues that arise during therapy sessions. Participants will acquire an understanding of both verbal and non-verbal communication, and the ongoing process of body-based, implicit, and nonverbal behavior while learning new ways to help our clients enhance self-regulation and develop relationship skills, resilience, and understanding of self and other.
