Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma Themes - Hybrid

This blended learning course is designed to make the most of your time with course facilitators and colleagues and provide you the flexibility to work through the conceptual course materials at your own pace.

Learn skills to notice and process the residues of traumatic experience that are held in your clients' bodies. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy helps you to work with your clients beyond words, with the often implicit somatic patterns related to traumatic experience to help inspire lasting change from the inside, out.

In this six-module course, you will learn the basics of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for working with traumatic experience, practice the basic skills that you will be able to apply immediately with your clients who are distressed or traumatized and touch on adaptations of SP skills for more complex clinical situations.

Format

This course consists of 93 contact hours of APA credit divided into:

  1. Three self-paced online learning modules (20 hours each, self-paced during a 7-9 week period)

  2. Three 2-day live modules (Two 6-hour days)

  3. A live-online Orientation (2.5 hours, hosted by course facilitators in real-time, required, but no CEs)

  4. A live-online Closing (2.5 hours, hosted by course facilitators in real-time, required, but no CEs)

Additional Course Requirements: Alongside the course*, you will also need to complete the following:

3 hours of Individual or Group Consultation with a Trainer or SP Approved Consultant (two of which must be individual) to help integrate the theory and skills

Fees for required consultation are paid independently outside of course tuition.

Credit for this course is available through CME Outfitters and / or Lifespan Learning Institute.

This activity offers 93 hours of CE credit for:

  1. Psychologists (APA) - CME Outfitters

  2. Social Workers (ASWB) - CME Outfitters

  3. LMFT - Lifespan

  4. LPCC - Lifespan

All other clinicians will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Lifespan Learning Institute is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, & LEPs. Lifespan Learning Institute maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. (provider # 050085)

This course meets the qualifications for 93 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

It is your responsibility to verify with your licensing board / organization that they will accept the types of CE credit we offer. Out of state LMFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs should verify with their licensing board if they will accept BBS CE.

Your eligibility for CE Credit is based upon full attendance of the course (documented by your module sessions' log-in/ log-out and engagement times) and completion of the online module tests and evaluation forms within 7 days of the course end date. Upon verification of these, a PDF of your certificate will be emailed to you within 7 days following the end of the evaluation period.

Statement of Need: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy provides mental health practitioners with the skills to notice and process the residues of traumatic experience that are held in clients' bodies. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy helps mental health practitioners to expand their practice to work with implicit somatic patterns related to traumatic experience to help inspire lasting change in the ability to regulate the autonomic nervous system.
