Training Detail Denver, CO Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma Themes - Hybrid AUGUST 4, 2022 - FEBRUARY 9, 2023 Please Note: Due to COVID-19 this training may be moved to a fully online format, and tuition will be adjusted accordingly. COVID - 19 Guidelines: This training operates under the guidance of local public health orders. Some venues where SPI trainings are held may require their own COVID-19 guidelines, including the use of masks and proof of vaccination and/or proof of a negative COVID-19 test before entry. This blended learning course is designed to make the most of your time with course facilitators and colleagues and provide you the flexibility to work through the conceptual course materials at your own pace. Learn skills to notice and process the residues of traumatic experience that are held in your clients' bodies. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy helps you to work with your clients beyond words, with the often implicit somatic patterns related to traumatic experience to help inspire lasting change from the inside, out. In this six-module course, you will learn the basics of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for working with traumatic experience, practice the basic skills that you will be able to apply immediately with your clients who are distressed or traumatized and touch on adaptations of SP skills for more complex clinical situations. Additional Course Requirements: Alongside the course*, you will also need to complete the following: 3 hours of Individual or Group Consultation with a Trainer or SP Approved Consultant (two of which must be individual) to help integrate the theory and skills Fees for required consultation are paid independently outside of course tuition. System Requirements A portion of this course is held in Open LMS (a platform for online courses) using Collaborate (a web-based video meeting tool), and is accessible from a laptop, desktop computer, tablet, or phone (note: not all course items are available via phone app). NOTE: This course includes elements that are live and interactive. To participate, you must have a computer with internet connection, a microphone, and a webcam. Instructional level of this activity: Introductory Statement of Need: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy provides mental health practitioners with the skills to notice and process the residues of traumatic experience that are held in clients' bodies. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy helps mental health practitioners to expand their practice to work with implicit somatic patterns related to traumatic experience to help inspire lasting change in the ability to regulate the autonomic nervous system.
